Something to Hold Onto to Remind You Who Is Holding You

I originally shared this practice in March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic. It is similar to last week’s practice but thought some may enjoy this version of holding something

"Something To Hold Onto To Remind You Who Is Holding You"

(originally shared in March 2020)

This is a simple thing, but I pray that this may help ground us in the truth of Whose we are and that God is the One we trust and lean upon when things of life want to shake us up.

-Find an item that you can carry in your pocket or wear on your body. (ie. glassy pebble, rock, tiny cross, feather, bracelet, necklace, shawl, etc.) What comes to your mind?

-As you pick up this item, share a simple prayer with God "God, as I hold/touch this item may it remind me that you are with me."

-Throughout your day, hold this item. Then take 3 deep breaths, turning your focus upon God, praying what is on your heart.

-Close with a phrase that grounds you in the truth of who God is and whose you are.

ie. "You are with me always"

Here's some scripture that you may enjoy reflecting on as you focus upon God while holding your object.

Scripture verses

"Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Is. 41:10

"Abide in me as I abide in you" John 15:4

"The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” Psalm 18:2

"Your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me fast.” Psalm 139:10

“The Lord is my Shepherd…He leads me…I dwell with Him all the days of my life” Psalm 23
