Simply Move

What connection does movement have with spiritual practices? We are created beings meant to move, we live all of life for God. Why not incorporate our daily moving as a way to connect with God?

Through the years, I’ve experienced the joy and freedom of lifting my hands while singing or signing with scripture. There’s something beautiful in using my body to talk with God. It grounds me and focuses me.

More recently, I’ve incorporated yoga as a regular part of my time with God. I find that the movement helps me become present to the moment, to God and to myself in a gentle, inviting way.

I invite you to give it a try one of these ideas giving yourself permission to play with it - smile, enjoy connecting with our Creator through your creating your own dance

  • take your favorite scripture and play with movement

ie. “I worship and bow down” becomes pointing to myself, praying hands, and bowing (there’s no right or wrong, however you want to express it to God our Creator who created you to create)

  • do yoga - simply enjoy the movements thanking God for this body, perhaps add a breath prayer to your breaths (Inhale: Be still and know, exhale: that I am God)
