Creating my phone lockscreen

Today, I’m sharing a creative practice that has blessed me in multiple seasons.

The image that is attached to this reflection is my own picture that I’ve paired with a scripture passage. I’m using this image as the lock screen on my phone. It grounds me and centers me throughout the day, a brief prayer to refocus my eyes upon my ever present God.

What’s the significance for me in the picture & scripture?

Today is voting day and I know emotions are high for many. I pray for peace for myself, for others. My heartfelt prayer is for us to trust in God. Hence, the scripture passage.

The photo is at Lake Michigan as the sun is setting. So many significant themes included in the image.

• Light shining forth into the darkness. God’s light with us

• tree (me) planted/grounded by the streams of living water (Ps. 1)

• footprints in sand - I’m not alone, God with me, community of saints with me too on this journey.
