Holy Week Visio Divina

May the following images draw us closer to God during Lent and Holy Week.

Scroll through the images below. I invite you to spend time with one each day.

  • Pray - ask God to speak to you through this image

  • Gaze at the image in its entirety.  Is there a part of the image that catches your attention?  Or perhaps it's the color or texture? What do you like or dislike?

  • What do you hear God whispering into your heart?  What thoughts or questions is this image raising?  What emotions do you feel?

  • I invite you to take time to have a conversation with God about what is arising for you without judgment.

  • Gaze at the image again.   Any other thoughts or emotions?  Where would you put yourself in the picture, or would you? Does this connect into your life in some way?

  • How do you wish to respond? With gratitude, supplication, wonder, lament, confession, dance, song, praise, etc.  Pray in this manner.

  • As you close out your time in prayer, open your eyes and gaze again upon the image. Rest in God’s presence as you reflect upon this prayer experience.

  • Consider how you’ll take this into your life.
